Insight To The Gambia
DAY 1 — Sunday: Depart New York in the early evening.
DAY 2 — Monday: Arrive Banjul, the Gambia late morning. You will be met by our local representative
and transferred to the Atlantic Beach Hotel. Afternoon meeting and orientation.
DAY 3 — Tuesday: Full day tour taking you to the various markets. You will see wood carving of
different styles, native goods, Gambian bangles, necklaces and textiles. Visit the museum, the Presidential sites and fashion boutiques. The tour continues to elementary schools where you will meet the teachers and pupils and then proceed to the Seredunda Market.
DAY 4— Wednesday: Full day tour to Juffureh to visit the ancestral home of Kunta Kinta, ancestor of Alex Haley. The visit lets you share the spiritual feelings from the remains of the slave era. See the house of slaves, the family of Alex Haley and visit with the village chief
DAY 5 — Thursday: A visit to the Abuko Nature Reserve and Brikama Carving Center. The Abuko Reserve is the principal Nature Reserve in the country. Walk through the beautiful jungle like forest. Large groups of monkeys, chimpanzee and many different kinds of exotic birds can be seen. Sometimes crocodile, lion and antelope can be found. On your return stop at the village of Brikama, famous for its wood carving market. Good bargains can be made.
DAY 6— Friday: Champagne and Caviar Excursion. Depart from your hotel to Denton Bridge where
you board a traditional Gambia river craft. You will enter the estuary of the river and see Banjul from the sea. Cruise through local waterways where dolphin are usually playing and often swim alongside the boat. A champagne buffet lunch will be served and you will have an opportunity to swim, sun bath or fish after lunch. Afternoon tea will be served before returning to Banjul.
DAY 7- Saturday: Free day to relax on the beach, shop or take an optional tour. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner with native entertainment at a Gambia NightClub.
DAY 8 — Sunday: Transfer services to the airport for your flight departing Banjul. Arrive New York in the morning.
